Student sports clubs
Creating community through sport
÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥â€™s sports clubs provide competitive athletic opportunities for skilled athletes who wish to hone their craft against regional and/or national competition. These student-led organizations foster teamwork, leadership and community.
While some sports clubs, such as rugby, hockey and lacrosse require prior experience, many UIdaho sport clubs welcome walk-ons and members of all skill levels. You’ll find a space where newcomers can develop their abilities and seasoned athletes will enjoy a challenging and rewarding experience.
U of I’s Sport Clubs invite you to get involved, represent the Vandals and make lifelong connections. Fill the gap between casual play and varsity competition while staying active, engaged and connected to the campus community by competing in your favorite sports!

Sport club FAQs
Each sport club has varying tryout and competition schedules depending on the leagues or organizations governing each respective sport. All ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ sport clubs accept interest from new members on a rolling basis.
Who can participate?
Sport club membership is limited to U of I students (full or part-time) and employees.
Is experience necessary?
Some clubs require previous experience due to the intense level of play. However, many clubs welcome walk-ons at all levels of experience. To learn more about club team requirements, contact our Sports Club Coordinator.
How much does it cost?
Clubs are partially funded through Recreation and Wellbeing. Some clubs charge membership dues to help supplement operational costs.
Do I need my own gear?
Members are routinely required to purchase equipment that's personal, specialized and sized or fitted — including skis, skates, baseball gloves, livestock, etc. Typically, clubs will purchase jerseys/uniforms and minor equipment with club funds from the university.
