In this program, you will gain hands-on training and experiences in swimming, river guiding, outdoor adventure, wilderness emergencies, program planning and management and much more with the campus’s excellent recreation facilities and Idaho’s mountains.
This program is one of just three accredited in the Northwest and has earned recognition from Outside Magazine as a top university for adventure.

Clubs and involvement opportunities
With Idaho’s scenic backdrop and outstanding outdoor resources, it is among the best settings to earn a degree. Moscow and the surrounding areas have consistently been ranked among the best places to live in the U.S. by media outlets including Outdoor Life, Outside Magazine, ABC News, Mother Earth News and Businessweek.
Within an hour of Moscow, you will find rivers for fishing, boating and rafting, wilderness for hiking and camping and mountains for skiing.
Internships and practicum:
As part of the recreation, sport and tourism management program, you'll complete both a practicum and an internship.
The practicum offers hands-on learning in a supervised setting, where you'll assist and observe professionals. The internship provides the chance to gain practical experience in an agency related to your career goals, allowing you to apply classroom knowledge in real-world environments.
These experiences are designed to help you build valuable skills for your future career.
Application information
Undergraduate applications open each September and admissions are processed on a rolling basis. Qualified students are admitted and considered for scholarships and financial aid as applications are received.
